Stock Replica
is a series of images
that interrogate the visual language of stock photography by appropriating and transforming images sourced from the internet. These works deconstruct the polished, generic representations of nature found in commercial image banks, breaking down their original contexts to reveal new, abstracted compositions.
Through digital manipulation, the familiar tropes of stock imagery—idealized skies, shimmering water, and perfect rainbows—are destabilized. The resulting videos shift perception away from the literal and into a more speculative, poetic register. By fracturing and reassembling the source material, Stock Replica challenges our understanding of authenticity, beauty, and the commodification of natural imagery.
The project reflects on the detachment between image and origin in contemporary visual culture, where even elemental experiences of the natural world are often consumed through sanitized, algorithm-friendly simulations. In reframing these visuals, Stock Replica reveals the constructedness of what we consider "universal" nature—and opens a space for alternative, critical interpretations.
