Unfounded Geographies

Unfounded Geography reflects the history of the world's phantom islands, specifically Sandy Island in New Caledonia. This work is a rumination on the erasure of place and the fiction in known 'facts.'

Separating the video into a visual grid references a map's parallel and meridian lines, a cartographer's attempt to organize. Still, each section acts autonomously and slowly erodes without regard to its counterparts. What appears to be a collective whole is gradually erased separately.
